Loving Your Home Again

We spend a lot of time in our homes, especially now, so why not make sure it’s a place you really love?

Having a home that makes you feel happy and relaxed will have a positive impact on every aspect of your life.

If you’ve fallen out of love, don’t worry! Here are four quick and easy ways to bring the spark back!

CHANGE THE LOOK

Simple changes can make your home new and exciting. Instead of a complete remodel, just add a few new things. Add pops of seasonal color wit

h accessories, throws or pillows. Rearranging the furniture can make the space more functional and give purpose to those unused areas.

If you’re ready for a more dramatic change, paint is the way to go! Updating and refreshing your walls can totally change the mood of the room. Don’t forget, ceilings count too!

SHOP YOUR HOME

Are you aware of all the great things you have in your home already? We tend to lose objectivity when we see these things every day.

Take a little shopping trip through your house and look at what you have as if you were in

at Home or Home Goods®. Grab the things you love most and move them to the prominent focal areas. Swap out items from other rooms. You’d be surprised that items that have lost their appeal in one room could live again to bring beauty and new life in another!

Oh, and for those things you left aside, ask yourself if you would purchase that item again today. If not, toss or donate it!

UPSCALE WHAT YOU HAVE

Instead of purchasing new items, can you upcycle a piece you once loved with a coat of paint or a slipcover? Can you have it reupholstered or reworked to become something entirely new? This can be a fun and creative way to reimage items you already own.

Some ideas could be re-stain the surface of a tabletop or coffee table, paint an old dresser and add some fun new drawer pulls.

Don’t just think big… think small too. Little details make a big difference.

MAKE YOUR BED

Gretchen Rubin, New York Times best-selling author of The Happiness Project, explains that this three-minute task is one of the simplest habits you can adopt to positively impact your happiness.

Who doesn’t love to fall into a beautiful, fluffy, cozy well-made bed? Think five-star hotel. The sumptuous sheets, heavy comforters, and surplus of pillows make hotel beds so inviting.

While you may think sheets and other bed coverings are insignificant, research shows there’s actually a strong link between how well you sleep and how good you feel. So, go ahead, transform your bed and feel the love again!
